My Life Story 10-7-09
I was five on June 2, 1999, when I took my first trip to
The next morning I woke up at six o clock sharp, and I was so excited to see Shamu and the dolphins and everything else! I screamed excitingly and woke everyone up. All of us got ready and set off to Sea World that was only three blocks from our hotel. We arrived and everyone jumped out, even my sister was kind of excited, and we went to the ticket line. That line was so long it took us just an hour to get in Sea World. But when the line got to us we paid and ran into find the show where Shamu was performing with his divers and caretakers. All the staff that worked there had this bright smile on their face and was happy to see everyone. It made the feeling of the park exciting and welcoming. The show started at dawn and it was packed. My family got special seats right in the front row because Shamu was going to surprise everyone with a welcoming entrance. The show started and Shamu came jumping up out of the water with one of the divers on the tip of his nose and came plopping down on his belly and splashed everyone. My sister and I were socking wet but it was so fun and we kept watching for more exciting tricks. There was loud music that all the little kids were dancing to so we started dancing. The show came to an end and we were so tired and wet. We called it a day and headed back to the hotel.
The next couple of days before we headed back to home we spent at the Adventure Land, it was really called Universal Studios but it was adventure land for my sister and I because there were roller coasters and mazes and museums of lions and tigers and reptiles. It was more like a zoo but they called it a museum. First, my sister and I found a roller coaster we could go on, we couldn’t go on very many because we were small and you have to be a certain height to go on the ride, but it was called California Scr’emin'. This ride sounds scary and I was extremely scared to go on, but it wasn’t, it was so fun and it went really fast, your face felt like it was stuck in a smile. It took you up a steep hill and down the other side really fast into a loop, then throw water, but you didn’t get wet you were above it and to a screeching halt. I will never forget this ride because it was the first roller coaster I went on and it was so fun I rode it three more times.
The days went by and we were back on the road to our home. I was so happy my parents took me to Sea World; it was an adventure I will never forget. I hope to go back there in the future and take some of my friends and go on some more roller coasters that I couldn’t go on as a little kid.

julia jorge
Julia Jorge is her name, and she is an unusual girl. Her facial expression looks like a mad monkey. She wears short shorts and small t-shirts and dark eyeliner. In a way she is kind of scary because when she looks at you, she will grin at you and raise her eyebrow and say “what”, like you did something to her when all you said was hey, what’s up. Her family is just as weird. They are wizards, they put spells on people that walk by there house. They never leave there house because everyone is scared of the way they dress. There wear black clothes that cover there entire bodies, and masks to cover there face and they speak in tongues so no one understands what they say.
Julia lives on a dark, dark sheet in
All she wishes for is to be normal and find one best friend that will accept her for who she is and not what she does in her life. One day she went out of her house, it was rainy, and this young lady was sitting at the end of her street crying. She went up to her and asked her what was wrong. The lady said she has no friends and all she wanted was a friend to like her for who she is. Julia said she had the same problems and no one liked her because of the things she does in her life. The lady, her name is Hannah, said to Julia; let’s work our problems out together. Hannah and Julia started to become friends because they both liked to collect weird objects and sell them. They were just so much alike that they finally realized they could be best friend and they didn’t hate each other, they liked each other for who they were. So they became best friends and did everything together and even live with each other. They were both very happy that they became friends and that they would be friends till they both died. Julia finally got her wish and it came true.

Narrative exercise
When you were accused of something that you didn’t do
I was five years old and my sister and I got new Barbie toys from Wal-Mart. I was playing with them all by myself and all of a sudden the Barbie’s head fell off. I swore to my parents it wasn’t me. The head of the Barbie just fell off. My sister’s eyes started to water and then I cried to my parents that it was not me! I knew from that day forward to be careful with new toys. Also, to beware that new Barbie Dolls heads can fall off.
When you learned the truth about Santa Claus
I was so excited for Christmas to come in the year 2000. My sister and I were very curious on what we got that year. Every year I wrote Santa a list of what I wanted and gave him a glass of milk and cookies and carrots for the reindeers. But the night before christmas came and i heard this loud thump that came from my parents bedroom. It was so loud it woke me up. I snuck into my sister bedroom an woke her up. We then snuck into my parents bedroom and found them, not Santa, wrapping our presents. I was so shocked, but i was to little to know what was going on, and why my parents were taking Santas place. My mother took me to my room and explained to me that our family celebrated christmas because as a christrian family we believe that was when jesus was born and we didnt celebrate christmas because of santa but because it was the birth of jesus. I realized later when i grew up some more that it was true that Santa wasnt real and i was ok with the fact he wasnt real.
When you lost something valuable
I was walking through the Fun Festival, having a good time. I had my phone in my back pocket. My friends and I got on the Ring of Fire and we got really sick. I had my phone when we got off the ride and ran to the bathrooms because we were really sick. Then when we were walking back to the carnival and my phone was gone. I freaked out and looked everywhere for it, I even went to the carnival staffs and had them help me find it. My phone was gone, I knew my mom would freak out because I lost it and because it was a brand new phone. It was like 12 at night and we were still looking for it. Finally my friend found it by the bathrooms and I knew from that day forward to bring a bag with me to put my phone in.

Setting Essay

Setting Essay
Many authors use setting to help with the plot of their story. In the two stories we read in class the setting played a huge part in the stories development. Setting is a very important part in getting you to feel a specific mood and conflict through out the stories.
In "Contents of a Dead Man's Pocket" it has a specific mood and conflict through out the story. The two main settings of the story are when the character Tom is in his apartment writing a work paper, and when he is on the window ledge. These scenes are important because the way the author describes them. He describes them with such great detail and intensity and that creates the atmosphere for the character. The author makes it intense by saying Tom’s point of view and everything he feels, sees, and what he is even thinking. On page 10; “He began to tremble violently, panic flaring through his mind and muscles, and he felt the blood rush from the surface of his skin”. Also, the yellow paper he was writing wasn’t worth almost losing his whole life for. The paper wasn’t even important. On page 11;” He saw himself falling with terrible speed as his body revolved in the air, knees clutched tight to his chest, eyes squeezed shut, moaning softly”.
In the story “The cold equations” the conflict created the atmosphere of the character Marilyn. The conflict of this story was that Marilyn a poor innocent eighteen-year-old girl wanted to go see her brother Gerry who was on the planet Mimir. She got on an aircraft that took her to the wrong plant far, far away from her brother. On page 170; “You’re going to make me die and I didn’t do anything to die for it- he sighed, deep and weary, I know you didn’t said the pilot”. The pilot didn’t want to kill her but the reason he had to was because there was not enough fuel for her to go with him and they would crash and die before they landed on the planet. On page 176;” Could I write a letter? I want to write a letter to my Mama and Daddy. And I’d like to talk to Gerry”. Marilyn knew she had to die so she wrote a letter to her mom and dad and ask to call her brother before the pilot said it was time for her to go.
So as you can see, setting plays a big part in the two stories. Setting is locale or a period in which the action of a novel, play, film, etc., takes place. It helps to develop characters and set moods, to create a tone or give the reader feelings like anxiety or terror. Setting also can support a plot, foreshadow an event, or provide a conflict.
